Platelets and WBC count differ
Hello sir/madam,
My mother had a fever and the doctor asked to take blood tests and in that test, the platelet count was 2.8 lakhs/cumm and WBC were 8600 cells/cumm and asked to take antibiotics and few infection medicines for fever and we started to take those which is just yesterday but today we went to diagnostic center for taking the tests again and in that report the platelet count was 1.81 lakhs/cumm and WBC are 4900 cells/cumm. Though it was in the normal range I wanted to check if this is normal as both platelets count and wbc Count decreased. Please help me fastly as I am having fear whether the counts are decreasing.

The latest lab report is in normal range . But this is seemed to be a viral infection.

So first of all do NS1 antigen for dengue and if it is found to be negative then
please check CBC includes both WBC count and platelets in 3 consecutive days. If it shows a decreasing trends (platelets count <1.5lakh and WBC <4000) consult nearby hospital and take an appointment with physician

Do these tests: repeat CBC and Dengue NS1,IgM ; MP kit and report .
If these come to be positive you need to consult your physician.

Hello, the consecutive reports do suggest that both cell lines are in decreasing trend,but we can’t say anything based on just these two reports.In view of high incidence of dengue during this time,I suggest you to get your mother thoroughly investigated in above lines

Although it may be due to different labs having different machines but it’s better to repeat it again after two days and see the trend. Also you can get a peripheral smear made which leads to manual calculation to see whether both counts are adequate.

Especially check for dengue , typhoid malaria
Also counts can get low due to viral fever

If both reports are from same lab .. then you should get checked for dengue , malaria.

You 2nd cbc shows a viral picture with decreased WBC count and fall in platelets, most likely dengue.
The first cbc is normal as it was early in the disease course.

It's totally fine as of now , but with the viral going on in several parts of india due to change in climate.

It looks as if you got the tests done from different Laboratories. The WBC count Platelets count can't fall by 40% within 24 hours however strong the medicine might be. But since all the parameters done so far are within normal limits there is no cause for worry.
Please continue with the medicine. If she becomes afebrile then it is all right. Otherwise you will have to get some more tests done.
