You should go for a complete ACL reconstruction, good for future and for your age group as you need to know all the activities of daily living and its very much successful. After that dont forget to go for physiotherapy for almost 3 months to get perfection in strength, co-ordination and balance.
Health Tips
at home: give rest to the knee, avoid full weight bearing to the painful or knee weak knee and hot water fomentation and some painkiller gel are temporarily helpful.
Arthroscopy reconstruction of ACL is a hugely successful procedure and is definitely a good and successful way of tackling it. In my opinion, stem cell therapy is not of much benefit regarding stability of joint, though it may reduce the pain.
Hello there.
Well if it is a full tear ACL/meniscus injury...you have to undergo arthroscopic surgery to repair it ....otherwise the stability of your leg and movement of your knee will be greatly compromised.
Next Steps
visit an Orthopaedic surgeon at the earliest.
Health Tips
avoid bearing weight on the affected knee & wear a patellar knee cap till your arthroscopic repair.
In my opinion u must go for a long reconstruction otherwise it will get worsen as your age progresses as it is the 3rd grade tear...as far as physiotherapy is concern...after getting the reconstruction done start with physiotherapy sessions....get well soon take care...
Avoid sitting Cross legged.
Avoid Squatting-
Quadriceps Exercises- Lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.
Core Strengthening Exercise- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.
Hams Stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. repeat 10 times, twice a day.
Sports Taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area
Contrast Fomentation (Hot and Cold).
