It depends on the weight of the baby ..pcm dose is 15mg/kg.thrice daily can be taken and do cold sponging .It comes in the form of drops(100mg/ml),syrup(125mg/5ml).If it doesn’t subside after giving pcm,and if baby is not feeding properly or irritable, lethargic.kindly consult near by paediatrician suspect sepsis and do sepsis screening.
Based on the limited information provided, here is my recommendation for caring for your 8 month old baby with a fever:
1. Give acetaminophen (Paracetamol/PCM) based on your pediatrician's dosage instructions for your baby's weight. In general, the recommended dosage for infants is 10-15 mg of acetaminophen per kg of body weight, given every 4-6 hours as needed to control the fever.
2. Monitor your baby closely for any changes in symptoms or worsening of the fever. Call your pediatrician right away if:
- The fever goes above 102 Fahrenheit
- The fever lasts longer than 3 days
- Your baby develops other symptoms like vomiting, diarrhea, cough, difficulty breathing, lethargy, etc.
3. The warm head is likely due to the fever. Fever causes the body's temperature to rise, which can make the head feel warm. Cold compress and acetaminophen should help bring the fever down and make the head feel cooler.
4. Teething at 8 months can sometimes cause low-grade fever. Give your baby something to chew on like a cold teething ring to provide relief.
5. Call your pediatrician's office right away for advice. They may want to examine your baby in person to determine the cause of the fever and rule out any serious infections.
Please seek immediate medical attention if your baby has any signs of dehydration like decreased urine output, dry mouth, or lethargy. The wellbeing of your little one is my top priority, so don't hesitate to contact your pediatrician with any questions or concerns. Let me know if you need anything else.
