BRIEF

I am having hypertension and diabetes for the last 15 years. About 4 years ago I was diagnosed with OSA(obstructive sleep apnea) after 'sleep test' by a pulmunologist. But my sleep was not sound and the nose used to get blocked after 4 or 5 hours of sleep and then I was forced to remain awake with sleep deficit day after day. This was even after usage of CPAP machine night after night.My workplace is UAE and whenever I visited Bangalore my nose used to get clogged which required me to visit doctor. In fact I was recommended to go for surgery of Deviated Nasal Septum(DNS).

PATHFORWARD

My cardiologist with Burjeel Hospital - Abu Dhabi insisted that I should go for DNS surgery. In fact I was seeing this cardiologist for the first time in August 2023 after my earlier cardiologist with another hospital was out of town.

SEARCH FOR AN ENT SURGEON

I was scheduled for vacation in Bangalore and thought to get the surgery done for OSA. I tried to get hold of a good ENT doctor by seeking help through various social media groups. I browsed through the internet and got to see Dr. Diptarka Bhattacharya's profile.

With prior appointment I visited Dr. on 31st Oct'2023. Dr. Diptarka heard about my health issues. He then explained me the options available. It was a detailed explanation which is even understandable to any layman. The first thing he asked for was to get the CT scan of nose / skull. Within an hour of CT scan report and its analysis the surgery date was fixed on 2nd Nov.2023.

The surgery was successful and I got discharged on 3rd Nov.2023 and on 9th Nov.'2023 splints were removed.

My interactions with the Dr. prior and post surgery has given me the impression that he is a thorough professional. I zeroed on Dr.Diptarka just by going through his profile when I was on the look out for a qualified and experienced doctor. Literally, I fished out Dr. Diptarka from my internet search. I am glad that my choice of doctor tuned out to be so excellent.

Dr.Diptarka knows his craft well enough. He patiently explains the protocol he would execute during the course of treatment. After waiting for almost 1 hr 15 mins , doctor received me and started his inspection. The least I expect from a doctor is to do an impartial thorough checkup where he can park his presumptions at the bay.

Not just he was uninterested *** *** * ****** *** ** ********** *** ***** According to him my pain is caused because of incorrect position of my ulnar nerve but in last 30 years the position of that ‘funny nerve’ has never changed for me. Furthermore it is the same position in the other hand. He wasn’t able to explain why there was an elbow pain on weight bearing, screw tightening action and wrist clenching - which are the basics of examining the entire hand. And after 5 mins of inspection he advised - Surgery! Can you believe it. He didnt give any explanation to the blunt force trauma that I suffered and how it would have resulted in the pain.

By the end of 5 mins of his inspection he was so disinterested that he didnt cater to my other issue of neck pain. His diagnosis was that - it is due to lifestyle and there is nothing that can be done. I would have accepted that diagnosis if he would have been able to explain why this suddenly started only in last few weeks after my accident while the lifestyle has been like that for years.

I am glad that I got myself checked again from another doctor *** ********** ******** *** ********* *** ********* *** ******* ****** *********

Overall - wouldn’t recommend the hospital nor the doctor.

PS - Practo has mentioned the fees to be 500 but they charged me 850

Medical emergencies are never predictable for any one but in such a situation if anyone is in need of a General / GI /laparoscopic surgeon, then no doubt Dr.Viswanath S ( currently at manipal hospitals Sarjapur road) is the best a patient can get. In my case, I had sudden onset of pain on my backside right side which upon USG found out to be gall bladder stones and needed immediate surgical intervention to remove the gall bladder itself. I was referred to Dr Viswanath S at manipal hospitals, Sarjapur road and that was the first positive turn in my episode of pain. The Dr. was so comfortable to discuss the issues and the plan..he was so approachable and explained the issues and solutions very well. I found that just a couple of basic blood tests and I was arraigned for the laparoscopic surgery. No unnecessary scans or MRI or unwanted tests were prescribed. On the surgery day also Dr.Viswanath personally ensured that I was full of confidence and comfortable prior /during /after surgery. Dr Viswanath along with anesthetist Dr.Prasanna and his team made the entire procedure of laparoscopic cholecystectomy a completely comfortable, painless and hassle free experience for me. I was on rest for that day of surgery and the next day I was feeling much better and getting back to form, I was discharged immediately followed by rest at home. I am back to my normal life. No unwanted medicines post discharge. I have been suffering from consistent cold, continuous sneezing for a long time. Due to that my life was became miserable. I visited Dr. Diptarka for first time he suggest me to have a nasal CT Scan. After the scan results came we found that my septum is deviated. I recently underwent surgery for deviated septum correction, a decision that has significantly improved my quality of life. My father aged 63yrs had pain in the calf region with slight discoloration of toes. So immediately we went to Columbia Asia Hospital, sarjapur road in Bangalore at around 1a.m and consulted the duty doctor in emergency ward . We were advised to consult the Vascular surgeon, Dr. Sunil Joshi. The doctor arrived within no time. After careful and thorough examination and after going through the reports, he diagnosed the problem as aneurysm with acute limb ischemia. So he advised us to undergo an emergency Vascular surgery. It was a high risk surgery which was performed by Dr.Sunil Joshi which took around 6 to 7hrs time. The surgery was performed with high precision and perfection. It's been almost 20 days post surgery and my father is doing extremely good because of Dr. Sunil Joshi 's expertise. He is very patient friendly and jovial. We felt that we are in the safest hands. I was suffering with nasal blockage for about 3 months, visited doctors and got CT Scan done. Most of the doctors said let’s go ahead with the surgery but I was not satisfied. Then I visited Dr.Diptarka and he explained to me about my sinus issue in great depth at the same time with words which a non-medical person can easily understand. Also he was not in a hurry for surgery and then after another scan reports he suggested that surgery is one of the best possible solution. The great part is that as I told him that I had visited other doctors too, he directly told me that I can go ahead with surgery with my original doctor if I am more comfortable (this showed his genuine behaviour as medical profession of giving me the right guidance). I got endoscopic sinus surgery with Dr.Diptarka and his team who guided me and my family at all times. I have had two surgery follow-ups till date and I feel to be in perfect health.
