After undergoing cataract surgery for both eyes at another clinic, I developed Posterior Capsule Opacification or PCO (happens in some cases after cataract surgery). I also had some age-related degeneration of Retina. It was then that my family doctor (a top Ayurvedic Physician and visiting faculty at several European universities) advised me to meet Dr. Vimal Parmar.
I met Dr. Parmar on April 19, 2023. He confirmed the PCO in both eyes and diagnosed the retina problem as Epi Retinal Membrane (ERM) over the right eye only and laid out a clear plan of action:
1. The ERM was not very active so he will try to contain it with medicines - basically a pill of Vitamin A (+ minerals) and eye drops. If it doesn't work he said he will try some stronger medicines and failing that, we will need to go in for surgery.
2. The PCO was not much of a problem and we should do capsulotomy by Yag Laser procedure sooner or later.
The medicines were tried for three months and since they didn't work, Dr. Parmar decided that we will do the capsulotomy first and see the effect on vision and then decide on action on retina. Accordingly, capsulotomy was done for both eyes in July 2023. While the left eye vision improved dramatically, the improvement in the right eye was marginal. RE was the one affected by ERM. On examination, the membrane was found to have become dense. Dr. Parmar felt that considering my age (72), he would like to avoid surgery and so he gave an injection in the right eye to arrest the growth of the ERM. That seems to have worked. Since the injection was given (Aug 08, 2023), my vision is stable and in fact there has been some slight improvement. Overall my vision has improved in the six months that I am with Dr. Parmar and I feel much more confident.
I liked the slow and steady approach the doctor has taken as it seems most appropriate to my case. On his advice, I also underwent an IPL procedure to activate the tear glands because my eyes have gone dry - 33% and 45% deficiency in lubricants in the two eyes. This is to help me combat my allergy problem. It will take another month to show results; I am quite sure it will.
Dr. Parmar is ably supported by two optometrists Aditi Jagtap and Nikita Khandelwal. Then we have Floor Manager Kanchan Dave, Sneha Shinde, Aarti Maske, Amit Sonawane and Ankush Pawar. Very polite, smiling and helpful, all of them.
The Hospital has a stock of some medicines which is very helpful. There is also an optician, Hemant Mahamer on the premises. Very friendly and helpful.
The premises are spotlessly clean and neat.
Feedback for improvement:
1. Dr. Vimal Parmar is the one and only doctor at Mahaveer Eye Hospital, which makes him very very busy all the time. So we don't get to speak to him as much as we would like to.
2. I believe after each visit, the entire prescription should be fully and clearly written out and not only the changes. In my case the changes in the number of times a drop or a tablet had to be given were told by the doctor orally but were not seen on paper.
I do believe one more Opthalmologist on the premises will help a great deal in respect of both 1 and 2 above.

I visited Dr Parmar for my mother's cataract surgery, doctor is very friendly greeted my mother in Bengali, checked both the eye and explained the situation. As her blood sugar was high couldn't go for the surgery for a month, however surgery was conducted on 21st August and all the staff took utmost care pre and post-operative procedure. Got all the paperwork for insurance purposes very smoothly and follow date were also given time to time. Hence I would highly recommend Dr Parmar for eye treatment. Kudos to the Dr Vimal Parmar and team.

Happy with: Doctor friendliness
Dr Parmar was friendly. But was totally unhappy with optometrist. She did not give proper power, she was giving excuses that you have retina issue so you are seeing hazy, which was untrue. Totally unprofessional, will never recommend anyone for power checkup. After using new power, not able to see properly.

Hoped for better: Wait time
had to wait for more than 50 mins inspire of an appointment. having an appointment is of no use as they place your name in waiting similar to walk in patients. when asked , receptionist told us to wait for another 10 mins several times. when confronted, technician and not the doctor did the eye test on ma hone which was rarely used (assumed on the fact that technician took 5-7 mins to connect wires ,clean the dust and start the machine). no time for retina test as wasted time for waiting. blew off 400 bucks as got the eyes tested again since I was not confident of results generated by technician.

Visited For Eye Infection
Dr. Vimal Parmar checked the eye thoroughly by dilating it to rule out any infection in the inner eye, detected the problem and prescribed an appropriate course of eye drops to cure the infection. The medication is still on and there is a remarkable improvement. I'm sure that by the time the course of medication is completed my eye will be as perfect as it can get. Do visit him without any hesitation if you have any eye problem. The clinic is hygienic and the staff is cordial and cooperative.
