Hi, Please note, there are lot of grey marked comments, which i don't have visibility. With best of my understanding and knowledge I am responding to this case. Also, not to dismiss your feelings in any way, In your case as the liquor was high and also, it had been explained to you clearly, there was some abnormality to the baby (Thickened abdominal wall) as part of the growth scan. We (Myself and Fetal medicine expert who performed growth scan) explained clearly there may be metabolic disorders and some unknown genetic disorders which we should check once the baby is delivered. USG can identify major structural abnormalities, functional abnormalities can not be identified, which will be presented after the delivery. C-Section will not provide any benefit (Infact it is having more cons) over normal delivery. Through out the labour process we were monitoring you, once there was full dilatation, we were waited for one hour along with support system, so that you can push. But it was not happening and you were uncomfortable and not able to push, we had given a option for C-Section or instrumental delivery. You had consented for instrumental delivery and proceed with the same. After application of vaccum there will be swelling (Water) on the scalp for every baby due to the vaccum pressure, as days goes on it subsides. It is same with your baby as well. Baby Heart beat was normal through out the labour process and after delivery. Baby had a mild respiration effort, after that it did not for which intubation was done and shifted to NICU. While I am sympathetic towards your result which is not a desired one, I must emphasize that I practice evidence based process, procedure and medication for my clients, Which are proven and safe for them. Regardless of how my client decide to give birth, I always provide the information of possible their childbirth options, so they can have a voice in the process, advocate for what they want and make the most informed choice. I am passionate about women wellbeing and health of a women, when it comes for the baby delivery, I recommend and prefer to make a normal delivery as it is a natural process and both baby and mother will have great advantage in long run (Even though it is stressful job for me due to continuous monitoring and decissions compared with C-Section) as long as the condition of baby and mother are supportive with evidence available in the continuous monitoring systems. Instrumental delivery does not cause demise of the baby, some inherent problem with which baby is unable to take respiration inspite on ventilation. To identify the reasons for the baby demise Autospy was advised. According to my view, this would have given a good chance of understanding your future planning in the course of action, as some unclear identifications are given in the growth scan, and might cleared your view on the delivery process.
