Today is world cancer day. Here are some things you should know about detecting cancer:


  1.  PAP smears every year is a very effective way to pick up pre-cancerous disease and early cancer of the cervix. So have a yearly Pap smear done until your doctor recommends you to stop.
  2. And learn self examination of the breast.

    You could do it once or twice a month during a shower and if you have any doubt you can always get it cleared up with your doc
  3. If any female relative- like a mother, sister, grandmother has had ovarian, breast, endometrial cancer or colon cancer. You MIGHT be at a high risk of developing cancer. Talk to your doctor and get your doubts cleared up.
  4. If you can afford to, immunise your girl child against cervical cancer.
