While we talk about weight management, it is very simple calculation of calories (food) in and calories out i.e the food we burn. Some people have strong metabolism genetically so body burns off calories on its own. But for people who have moderately slow metabolism have to monitor their food intake so that they burn the excess calories and maintain their weight.

In order to loose weight you start going to gym. You workout or exercise for 45-90mins and burn calories. so your energy expenditure increases as compared to before so you start losing weight. But after reaching your fitness goal you decide to stop gym workout, then what will happen? 45-90mins of energy expenditure stops, that means now your body is not burning any calories as there is no exercise. So your body will save that calories and your body will gain weight. BUT, if you stop gym workout and choose to go for 45mins of swimming, jogging, cycling, zumba, power yoga or any other form of physical activity, you will still maintain that weight and not gain as you are spending calories.

So if you go for brisk walking or jogging for 45mins and lose weight and then stop, still you will gain weight. So whatever lifestyle change you start for weight maintenance has to be continued to sustain the results.

Exercise should be part of every ones routine as brushing every morning is.
