Heart attacks are sudden and intense but may start slowly, with mild pain or discomfort. 

Some warning signs of heart attack are:

1.      Chest discomfort: Most heart attacks involve retrosternal chest heaviness (in center of chest). It can last for few minutes to longer. Discomfort is usually like squeezing, uncomfortable pressure in chest, pain or fullness.  

2.      Palpitations: Sometimes palpitations and uneasiness are associated symptoms

3.      Shortness of breath: This may occur with or without chest discomfort

4.      Discomfort that radiates to upperpart of body: Sometimes the chest discomfort radiates to one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw or stomach

5.      Other symptoms: Lightheadedness, lethargy, fatigue, cold sweats or nausea are associated symptoms  

When ever someone experiences above symptoms. He or She should seek medical attention for proper evaluation and management. Evaluations is primarily being done by ECG, 2D echo and a blood test called Troponin I.
