Delta (B.1.617.2) a variant of novel coronavirus was first identified in India in late 2020.This variant is more infectious and to be spread more rapidly than other variants. The fatality rate is lower with the Delta variant is SARS -Cov 2 Due to immunity from previous covid -19 infection and effective Covid -19 vaccines prevented disease and hospitalization.

Alpha variant - (B.1.1.7) was first identified in Great Britain in November 2020. This was 30-50% more infectious and deadlier than SARS -Cov2.But this was neutralized due to the effectiveness of covid vaccination and prevented major disease and hospitalization.

Beta variant - (B.1.351)  it was identified in South Africa at the end of 2020. This was 50% more infectious than the original SARS-Cov2.Vaccination doesn’t provide strong protection against Beta variants.

Gamma variant - (lineage P1 ) was detected in Tokyo in Jan 2021. It has a high infectivity rate in young people. Vaccinated people had increased significance against Gamma.
