Puranik's Dental Care Today's Question is. Can Retainers Move Teeth ?- "My answer is -No. The name itself says to retain. That means it is an orthodontic appliance used to maintain the position of the tooth. This is given at the end of orthodontic treatment. The retainer that is given sometimes for mild immediate Orthodontic relapse is known to move teeth to some extent. But again these specific Retainers are not usable for all kinds of tooth movement. In fact, you can't use them for all teeth. So retainers can't and don't move teeth. It just retains the new teeth position. Hope this helped. Do like and follow for more such interesting facts.
