They seem like a quick fix, but here’s why they might be doing more harm than good…

First off, caffeine overload! Energy drinks are packed with caffeine, and that can raise your heart rate and put unnecessary strain on your kidneys.

Next, sugar overload! These drinks are loaded with sugar, and we all know what too much sugar can lead to health issues such as type 2 diabetes.

Dehydration danger ! Did you know caffeine is a diuretic? It can leave you dehydrated, which can be tough on your kidneys, increasing the risk of kidney stones and other issues.

And let’s not forget about the additives! From artificial flavors to taurine and maltodextrin, these can mess with your heart and digestion.

So next time you’re tempted by an energy drink, think twice and choose healthier alternatives like water, fresh fruit juice or lemon water.  If you’re doing something intense, like a marathon go for homemade electrolytes or sports drinks! They have a more balanced nutritional profile and usually contain way less sugar than those energy drinks.
