It is devoid of stale and devitalizing food,processed and tinned food.

Most green and yellow vegetables including carrots are full of vitamin A. Spinach contains Iron.

Moderation in the diet is emphasized as the guideline.Eat less than what is absolutely necessary to satisfy the appetite.

Learn to appreciate the natural taste of the fruits and vegetables.Water should not be taken with the food because it slows down the digestion process.

The Sattvic Diet Guidelines

  • Low salt diet.
  • Low-fat dairy products.
  • A generous amount of leafy vegetables and fruits.
  • Sprouted seeds should be eaten which are rich in Vitamins C, A, E, K, and B complex. 
  • Use honey in place of sugar.
  • Fill the stomach half with food,a quarter with the water,and leave the rest for the digestive gases or air.

Avoid

  • Processed, synthetic food.
  • Potato chips and other packaged items.
  • Fat,Red meat,pork.
  • Strong Tea and Coffee.
  • Deep fried foods.
  • Eating while you are hungry.
  • Eating while tired or emotionally upset.
  • Eating when you are to do work after the meal.

Tips

  • Try to relax a little,after the day's work,before commencing the meal.
  • Take plenty of water,eat slowly and chew properly.
  • Missing an overnight meal is beneficial.
  • Overeating and overweight go hand in hand with lack of exercise.
  • Slimming medicine and foods can cause physical and psychological damage.
  • Vegetables should be baked,steamed,or prepared in a pressure cooker.Food should not be over cooked.
  • Food should not be extremely hot,cold or excessively spiced.
  • The body and mind suffer if you abuse by food,alcohol or other things.
