What is it?
Masters and Johnson Sex Therapy is a structured, proven method to help couples or individuals overcome sexual difficulties—especially problems like erectile dysfunction, vaginismus, or lack of sexual satisfaction.
Simple Steps of Masters and Johnson Sex Therapy:
1. Sex Education & Counseling
– Learn about how your body works, what’s normal, and how stress or thoughts affect intimacy.
– Discuss fears, expectations, and relationship patterns with the therapist.
2. Sensate Focus Exercises (in stages)
These are gentle, non-demanding touch exercises done in private, without intercourse or pressure to perform.
Stage 1: Non-genital Touching
You and your partner take turns touching each other—just for comfort and relaxation, not for arousal.
Stage 2: Genital Touching (Still No Intercourse)
Once comfortable, you move to include more intimate touch but still without intercourse.
Stage 3: Intercourse (Optional Phase)
If earlier steps are going well, couples can gradually reintroduce intercourse, at their pace.
3. Communication Training
– Learn how to express needs, likes, and boundaries without fear or shame.
– Practice mutual respect and listening.
4. Homework Practice
– Exercises are practiced between sessions with agreed-upon rules.
– No pressure—it's about rebuilding comfort and closeness.
