Sinusitis is a condition in which the air-filled cavities of the nasal passages undergo inflammation or swelling. Sinusitis can either be acute or chronic and can affect any or all of the sinus pairs surrounding your nasal cavity, namely the frontal sinus, ethmoid sinus, sphenoid sinus, and maxillary sinus connected by narrow channels
Normally filled with air, the sinuses can get blocked and filled with fluid. When that happens, bacteria can grow and cause an infection (bacterial sinusitis).
