We all love grabbing delicious street food like samosas and kachoris, especially with that yummy chutney. But are they good for our heart if we eat them all the time? The short answer is: While these snacks are tasty, they might not be the best choice for your heart if you eat them often or in large amounts.
Like deep-fried foods, Samosas and kachoris are usually deep-fried, which means they have high levels of unhealthy fats that can contribute to increased bad cholesterol (LDL) levels and raise your risk of heart disease.
Snacks like Samosa & Kachori are generally don't have much fiber, vitamins, or minerals, which are important for good health.
If we talk about sodium, they can also be high in salt, which can raise your blood pressure, another risk factor for heart issues.
So is it mean that we should stop eating these snack items completely? Well, it totally depends on your overall health and current lifestyle. An occasional samosa or kachori as part of a balanced diet might be okay, especially if you are physically active and have an overall healthy lifestyle. If you experience discomfort like indigestion or heartburn after consuming these snacks, it's a sign you might need to limit them or avoid them altogether.
Also, you can prepare healthy Samosa or Katchori at home. Opt for whole wheat or multigrain flour for the outer covering instead of refined flour. Fill them with a mix of vegetables like peas, carrots, and spinach for added nutrients, and bake or air-fry them instead of deep-frying for a lighter option.
