Rhinoplasty recovery is easier than most patients expect. Day zero you go home with an external splint and mild pressure feeling.
Day 1 to 3 swelling and bruising under the eyes peaks. Sleep elevated and use cold compresses on cheeks. Pain is manageable with oral medication for 2 to 3 days.
Day 5 to 7 the splint comes off. First glimpse of new shape but still swollen. Do not judge the result yet. Most bruising can be covered with concealer.
Week 2 most patients return to desk work. Avoid glasses on the bridge and heavy lifting.
Week 4 to 6 light cardio cleared. Glasses can rest gently on the nose. 60 to 70 percent of swelling resolved.
Month 3 photographs look close to final.
Month 12 the tip fully settles and the permanent result is visible.
The most common thing patients say is it hurt much less than expected.
