High risk pregnancies, as the name suggests, is the condition in which the pregnancy is complicated in some way as compared to other normal and uncomplicated deliveries.

The risk to the mother or/and the baby is also higher in these pregnancies and hence continuous medical supervision is recommended to ensure both mother and baby are safe.

Several conditions might cause a pregnancy to be high-risk pregnancy which includes:

  • Maternal Age: Women under the age of 18 and above the age of 35 are supposed to have more complicated pregnancies than the ones between it.
  • Gestational Diabetes
  • Carrying twin babies
  • Women with PCOD
  • Anaemic Women
  • Women with Obesity
  • Women with high Blood Pressure
  • Women with Kidney Diseases

All of the above women are kept under observation and are recommended for regular checkups every month to ensure everything is going right. However, all women under the above categories need not necessarily have a high-risk pregnancy but it is always better to be careful than regretful.
