Most people believe that physical injuries can be altogether prevented by minimal activity and adequate rest. But preventing injury is something else entirely: while that sounds simple, it’s anything but simple. One of the primary reasons is “individual tissue threshold.” All bones, tendons, ligaments and other body tissues have their limits when there’s a potential level of stress there. This is the tissue threshold. Bone resists more stress than tendon. Tendon tolerates less than bone. Ligament is less tolerant than tendon. Cartilage is the least tolerant. This leads to injury when the threshold of stress exceeds that threshold. Why Threshold Is Different Than Just One Body There are multiple reasons why not all bodies respond in the same way: Genetics. Training level. Previous injuries. Tissue adaptation. Age and recovery capacity. For instance: Bone is strongest in compression. Moderately strong in tension. Weakest in shear stress. It also may explain why some motions or maneuvers are known to be more likely to produce injuries, even when the load seems normal. Recovery is Not For All People One is recovery time. Some people recover quickly but others will need more time off to rehabilitate their tissues. Stress applied prematurely can lead even within moderate-intensity work to such extremes as overwork and injury. Differences in the tissue threshold and amount of stress imposed on a person make it difficult to set training guidelines that would be effective in preventing all injury. Tissue threshold and imposed stress make it impossible to develop comprehensive guidelines for injury prevention. The Shalom Physicare Approach. Instead of treating it like an aggregate issue, we examine it through multiple lenses:* Individualized Assessment. All people are screened for the following: - Pain tolerance. Functional capacity. Activity goals.* Customized Progression Protocol. Increasing the load gradually to suit the response. Be attuned to this environment and fine-tune accordingly. Safe but effective progression.* Activation + Strength Integration. We combine: Muscle activation. Functional strengthening. Movement correction. → Full recovery, not provisional.* Patient Education & Confidence Building. We also help patients to understand: Their injury. Their limits. Their recovery path. Our goal is to restore function, independent of threshold and fitness. Prevent recurrence. Return to optimal performance.“Injury may be common, but recovery is personal.” As Shalom Physicare is customizing everything you do in your rehabilitation, not the injury itself.
