Many children suffer from repeated cough and cold, especially after starting school.
A normal child may get:
- 6–8 viral infections per year
- More infections during monsoon and winter
- Frequent symptoms after school exposure
This does not always mean low immunity.
Common reasons include:
- Viral infections
- Allergies
- Adenoid enlargement
- Exposure to smoke
- Poor hand hygiene
Parents should consult a pediatrician if:
- Cough persists beyond 2–3 weeks
- Child develops wheezing
- Weight gain is poor
- Fever is recurrent
- Child snores heavily at night
Simple preventive measures:
- Proper sleep
- Hand washing
- Healthy diet
- Avoid unnecessary antibiotics
- Timely vaccination
Building immunity takes time. Not every cough requires strong medicines.
