A truth about IVF.

We do IVF.

But we don’t do unnecessary IVF.

Because we don’t sell IVF — we build families.

Pritha (name changed) came back to me yesterday after 3 years.

In 2023, she had Unexplained Infertility.

  1. HSG normal.
  2. AMH good. Regular cycles.
  3. Husband’s semen normal.

At 34, her natural chances were still reasonable.

We had advised a stepwise approach:

  • Ovulation induction → IUI → IVF only if needed.

Because every pregnancy has a chance factor:

  • 10–15% per month,
  • ~60% in 6 months,
  • ~80% in one year.

She didn’t return then.

This time she told me she had gone elsewhere.

Direct IVF was done.

It failed.

Then surgery — both tubes were clipped to “increase IVF success.

”Another IVF failed.

Total cost: ₹6–7 lakhs.

And now, with both tubes clipped, natural pregnancy is no longer possible.

IVF is the only option.

Medical fact:

Tubal clipping is needed only in hydrosalpinx (fluid-filled swollen tubes).

Clipping normal tubes does not improve success — and it cannot restore natural fertility later.

She didn’t know this.

She was in tears.

Here’s the balance we must maintain:

✔ When IVF is truly needed — don’t delay.

✔ When IVF is not needed — don’t rush.

Because fertility treatment is not just about technology.

It’s about timing. Judgment.

Ethics.

IVF where necessary.

Not IVF for everyone.

  • In the end, what matters is not the procedure —It’s the family, the dream, and the smile.
