FETAL DEVELOPMENT:

Pregnancy / Fetal development in vitro is mainly divided in to 3 trimesters.

1st Trimester: (1-3 Months):

  • The embryo grows rapidly in this phase, where the child's internal organs like

brain, heart, spinal cord, gastro intestinal tract starts developing rapidly.

  • Child's external features also start developing in this period simultaneously.
  • Hence, in 1st Trimester, there is maximum risk for damage that may cause birth defects.

2nd Trimester :

  • The fetus starts growing and moving as its arms and legs are developed.
  • The facial features are also on completion of development.

3rd Trimester:

  • The child starts growing and getting bigger which may cause discomfort, stress, swelling, aches, etc.

Hence, Development of a child during pregnancy is known as fetal development.
