- Age, Family History
- Obesity
- Genetic syndromes
TYPES of thyroid cancer:
- Well Differentiated Thyroid Cancers which includes Papillary Thyroid Cancer &; Follicular thyroid Cancer
- Medullary Thyroid Cancer
- Anaplastic Carcinoma
- Lymphoma
SYMPTOMS of thyroid cancer includes:
- Swelling
- Change of voice
- Difficult breathing
- Difficult Swallowing
INVESTIGATIONS:
- Blood Tests includes thyroid function tests, tumor markers includes thyroglobulin, calcitonin, CEA
- Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology
- Ultrasound
- CT Scan/ MRI/ PET CECT as per requirements
TREATMENT:
- Surgery which is main treatment.
- Total Thyroidectomy - Most Commonly Thyroid Gland is completely removed
- Lobectomy: in low risk only diseased lobe can be removed preserving the healthy lobe.
- Other Treatment Options Includes: Radioiodine Treatment, Radiation, Chemotherapy, Targeted Therapy
