Almost all of us experience neck pain these days. It is especially common in those working on computers for a long time or have a sedentary job. Neck pain can be caused by several reasons but is mostly related to aging or overuse of neck muscles.
We can prevent neck pain by following these steps-
- By maintaining a good posture - We must keep our shoulders are in a straight line over our hips. When using cell phones, tablets, and other small screens we should keep our head up and hold the device straight out rather than bending our neck.
- By taking frequent breaks especially those working on laptops.
- Keeping our desktops and laptops at eye level- This reduces unnecessary strain on neck muscles.
- Quit smoking - Smoking reduces the blood supply of the disc which can lead to neck pain.
- Avoid using thick pillows- This also reduces unnecessary neck stiffness.
- Exercises - The most important way to keep neck muscles strong is by regular exercising. Stay active.
- Avoiding Stress- Stress causes our neck muscles to tighten thus leading to pain.
- Eating healthy diet- A diet rich in fruits and vegetables improves neck muscles strength.
- Regular supplementation of Vitamin D
- Consulting a doctor- When pain becomes too much, consult a pain management specialist.
