MELASMA is a type of recurring hyperpigmentation skin disorder majorly occurring in females in menopausal age group or during pregnancy or on oral contraceptive drugs or excessive sun exposure and sometimes its genetic in origin.Various treatment modalities include strict sun protection, use of proper sunscreens/SPF and depigmenting agents and cosmetic procedures like CHEMICAL PEELS and Q switch Nd-YAG LASER etc. At DERMASOLUTIONS CLINIC, we managed treating Melasma for this female patient by planned CHEMICAL PEEL using COSMELAN PEEL or combination of TCA/PHENOL based peel every 2 weeks interval and further maintenance by using RETINOIC based YELLOW PEEL systems.Patient adhered to strict photoprotection and used the post procedure creams properly.One can achieve desired results in cases of hyperpigmentation by first assessing what kind of pigmentation the patient is suffering like LICHEN PLANUS PIGMENTOSUS, MELASMA, RIEHL’S MELANOSIS, PHOTOMELANOSIS etc and then planning the cosmetic procedures accordingly.
