LH kit or ovulation detection kit is one among the easiest, efficient and accurate ways of predicting ovulation. Learn exactly how to use it!

Principle

LH or Luteinizing hormone is responsible for ovulation. The levels of this hormone rises to the peak 24 to 48 hours before ovulation. This rise can be detected in urine using ovulation detection kits. The most fertile days are the 2 days after ovulation detection kit tests positive.

How to do it?

When to start testing?

  1. Calculate your cycle length. This is done by counting from the first day of the period to the day prior to the next period. Include both the days in this calculation
  2. Substract 18 from the number indicating cycle length.
  3. Start testing on this day.
  4. If the cycle length is not constant, take an average of the previous 3 cycles.
  5. If the cycle length is not known at all, take it as 28 days.

For example,  if the lady got her periods on the 1rst of September and the next period started on October 1rst, her cycle length is 30 days. 30-18=12. She should start testing on day 12 of her menstrual cycle. Day 1 is the day she started getting periods, that is September 1rst in this case.

How to test?

  1. Check in urine everyday until 2 dark lines are seen. 2 dark lines is a positive test.
  2. If a faint line is seen at test space, check it again the next day.
  3. Check in concentrated urine between 10 AM and 8 PM. The best time to test is between 12 noon and 2 PM.
  4. Avoid drinking too much water before the test
