The world around you is chaotic, and so is your mind. There are so many noises that even you are unable to hear yourself clearly. Sometimes, You may thoughtlessly and unconsciously do things. As a result, you are able only to provide for your external body but do not know what your inner self or soul wants and requires.
This chaos is disturbing you within which is manifesting in the form of anxiety, stress, unhappiness, and whatnot. You know you need a balanced diet for energy and exercise to keep you in shape. But do you know what you might need to keep your inner self healthy?
No, many of you do not know. For years, the human race has been in pursuit of money and materialistic things. They have sought inner peace externally forgetting that the real peace is within oneself.
On this meditation day, we will shed some light on the ancient technique i.e. meditation to cleanse and detoxify your chaotic thoughts and meet your real self. There are many types of meditation but here we would focus on three simple techniques.
Let's know the real meaning of meditation
What is meditation?
Many of you may think that meditation is a process/technique where you sit, close your eyes, and chant a mantra. Yes, it is one of the techniques involved but truly speaking, meditation involves every activity that you undertake daily - eating, walking, writing, reading, etc. with full awareness and consciousness.
To make yourself more self-aware and conscious there are different meditation techniques such as: 1) Breathwork meditation
Have you noticed how your breathing pattern changes with your different moods? When you are angry your breathing is fast, when sad you find it difficult to breathe and when happy you find a pleasant sense of breathing.
This type of meditation includes focusing on your breathing. If you are tired and low in energy do this breathing meditation to regain your energy and consciousness.
There are many ways to do it but one of the common is mindful breathing.
How to perform?
- Go to a quiet place Choose a comfortable position (sitting or lying)
- Simply feel the exhalation and inhalation of your breath
- Without being judgmental allow your thoughts to pass through your mind
2) Visualization
If you have any situation that you have to go through - be it writing an exam, delivering a speech, or having your first interview, you can use this technique to gracefully face the situation.
Besides helping you boost your confidence, performance and reducing anxiety and stress, it helps your mind to face every challenge confidently.
How to do it?
Let us understand with an example
Suppose you have an upcoming speech to deliver
- Prepare your speech well
- Practice it well
- Then visualize daily that you are on the stage confident and fearless
- On the day of the speech you will deliver it confidently because you have gone through it many times in your mind before
You can use this technique in any scenario of your life or if you want to achieve anything
- Simply pen down what you want to achieve
- Learn the required skills to achieve that goal
- Make a time slot daily to visualize and feel all the emotions as if you have achieved that goal of yours
3) Mantra
This is a powerful technique to connect to the higher power or you may call it providence. This helps to increase self-awareness, soothe anxiety and create joyous feelings.
How to do it?
- Sit in a comfortable place and position
- Close your eyes and take deep breathsChant your mantra (for example “I am calm and happy” or “I am confident”) slowly
- After 15 or 20 minutes, open your eyes slowly with a sense of gratitude
Meditation helps you to perform your duty and responsibility from a position of self-consciousness. It makes you feel joyous and less stressed while engaging in your daily life. Everything you do consciously is meditation.
