Liver cirrhosis describes a condition where the healthy tissues of your liver are gradually replaced by scar tissue (tissue that forms as a part of repair). It can occur as a result of liver diseases, infections such as hepatitis or due to chronic alcoholism. 

Liver cirrhosis does not show any signs or symptoms until the damage is extensive.
