That you should never ever compare yourself with others.

Albert Einstein once said, “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid.” Each of us is a diamond in the making, polished constantly by every experience that comes our way, especially the hard ones. Looking back you will see that every challenge, every problem that you faced led to your growth and evolution. So, never, ever fall into the trap of believing that your journey is going to be any way similar to that of your friend or peer. Your path is unique and it is meant to be so.

That when one door closes, it is only so that another door which is truly meant for you is already open and waiting for you.

As you walk ahead, there will be options you might be interested in but may not work out in your favor. Have the faith and keep considering other options that interest you. Years later you will be so grateful for all those dreams that did not work out!

That today’s issues and heartbreaks will not matter and will be long-forgotten

Misunderstandings with friends, little heartbreaks that we experience from time-to-time,     disappointments, and failures do look and feel overwhelming right now. Trust me, it is going to be alright. You’re going to do just fine. If not for sorrows, none of us would know joy. If not for failures, how would you recognize success when it comes?

That courage is not the absence of fear. It is doing what is right and what the situation demands of you in spite of fear and self-doubt.

Very often, we refuse to take initiative, to step out of our comfort zone, because we feel we’re not ready enough. Prepared enough. Talented enough. What if we fail? What if others laugh at us? Well, here’s the truth. Courage is not a one-stop destination. It is a choice waiting to be called upon, ready to hold your hand, every time you act. Every time you look fear in the face and say, “I can’t help doing this because it matters so much to me”, you have embraced courage. Remember, “Those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.”

Seek Excellence, Success will follow. Seek Purpose, Joy and Fulfillment will follow.

You are the marble and the sculptor. When you seek excellence, when you constantly want to get better at your craft, you are open to learning. And learning inevitably involves making mistakes, picking yourself up and willing to try again. A pleasure-seeking being seemingly appears happy but feels hollow and discontented inside. A purpose-seeking being though may be seemingly going through challenging times, is joyful, content and living life to the fullest.

“To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch...to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson
