Most of patient don't visit dentist unless and untill they don't get any kind of dental pain . Here the case which i am sharing is of patient age 63 yr . He visited to my clinic for his decayed teeth. He even visited several times for his dental treatment since so many years . Though he is a nice person , but neglected his oral health beside visiting dentist several times.
Along with other dental treatment , i suggested splinting for his lower mobile teeth after proper teeth cleaning. His teeth were shaking. Most of people might be thinking that when teeth starts shaking in older age it falls on its own naturally. They wait for longer time till they fall naturally. Once it falls naturally they might be thinking to replace it.
Most of people may not be aware that shaking teeth can be fixed by joining them together. There is a material called splinting fibers to connect moving teeth.
In Above picture you can notice longer lower teeth ,its because of loss of gum attachments along with loss of surrounding bone. Because of weakening of surrounding supporting tooth structure teeth starts shaking. If it is not taken care of it then it falls on its own naturally, which is unaesthetic and make people awkward to smile because of loss of teeth
Once teeth are lost then the option left behind is to replace it.But if patient visit dentist at such situation,then there is no need of removing such shaking teeth.In such situation dentist decide to splint the teeth or not. Splinting is nothing but connecting shaking teeth with adjacent fixed teeth. Splinting fibers are attached to upper or lower teeth on invisible side means on tongue side or surface of teeth. with the help of adhesive this splinting fiber is attached permanently ( For Longer Duration ).
This is the most economical option to save teeth as compare to replace it with artificial teeth. If maintained very well such teeth can stay for 7-10 years. It maintains natural teeth as well natural smile within 30 minutes procedure
