Regenerative medicine is the new era of the art employing body's regenerative powers for self-healing. One of the emerging stars in this line is the Growth Factor Concentrate (GFC) which is seen as a new generation treatment intended to leverage the basic principles of platelet-stimulated healing for a variety of purpose.

What is GFC?

Growth Factor Concentrate (GFC) is a next generation, platelet derived product which is manufactured by separating and enriching the growth factors from a patient's blood. These are growth factors that are useful in new tissue formation, repair of tissues and wound healing. Different from classical PRP, GFC provides a platelet concentrate with fewer contaminations of red or white blood cells, which makes it more effective. It’s a more advanced version of PRP that offers greater results.

How is GFC Prepared?

The process of creating GFC is straightforward and minimally invasive:

1. Blood collection

A small volume of patient's blood is taken using a sterile syringe.

2. Centrifugation

The blood is then run through an autologous platelet collection system where it is isolated from other blood by centrifugation.

3. Platelet Activation

By releasing PDGF, VEGF, EGF, and IGF-1 from the platelets, the GFC treatment tube helps activate platelets.

4. Concentration and Purification

The activated plasma is then concentrated to obtain higher purity growth factors to develop a GFC solution.

5. Collection of GFC

GFC’s are gathered at the cap of the tube, and with the help of a syringe, they are collected. The GFC is now ready for the intralesional administration to the target site at which treatment is required.
