A Diabetic or simply sugar patient should follow four principles to keep sugars under control and keep complications away.

  1. Physical activity - Atleast 30-40 minutes of physical activity per day should be done for five days of a week.
  2. Dietary Restrictions - The key word every diabetic should inculcate in them is Small & Frequent meals ( No Fasting and no feasting)
  3. SMBG - Self monitoring of blood glucose levels as per your doctors advise. The key is More sugars More Charting - which will help in intensive titration of medicines and thus better control.
  4. Regular follow up visit - Every Diabetic patient should visit their Diabetologist as per the scheduled follow up, so as to keep sugars and complications under check.

Remember in Diabetes - Prevention of Complications is better than cure.
