Pregnancy is a beautiful journey in a woman's life as it is nothing but a magical process of bringing a new life into the world. Although this journey is one to be rejoiced about, it could be emotionally and mentally draining for expecting mothers because of the complications it could sometimes involve and also the very fact of carrying a living being in their womb. One may notice certain signs and symptoms even before getting a pregnancy test done. It may include a missed period, spotting, lethargy etc. and usually followed by a confirmation test done under the guidance of your doctor.

Pregnancy is a  40-week long period that is divided into three stages, which in medical terms is referred to as the trimester.

  • During the 1st trimester (weeks 1 -12) baby grows rapidly and the brain spinal cord and other organs begin to develop.
  • In the 2nd trimester (weeks 13-27) the baby’s movements can be felt from outside the womb.
  • During the 3rd trimester (weeks 28 - 40) there will be accelerated weight gain and general tiredness may kick in.

A woman’s body goes through various changes physically, emotionally and mentally in each menstruation cycle and during the entire process of pregnancy.
