Down’s syndrome is also known as trisomy 21, it is a genetic disorder caused when abnormal division results into an extra full or partial copy of chromosome 21,due to which defective mental and physical development takes place.

Causes :Down’s syndrome is  not  usually inherited from parents , most cases are usually caused by some changes during the development of the ovum , sperm cell or embryo.

Characteristic appearance of down’s syndrome  : Retardation of normal growth and development·      Low intellectual ability , below average intelligence , An unusal deep creases across the center of palms ,  Short legs , Short strature,  Loose skin at nape of neck , Protruding tongue , Small nose ,      Small low set ears , Slightly flattened facial profile.

CASE OF DOWN’S SYNDROME WITH DMD  TREATED WITH HOMOEOPATHY .     

 A Male child aged 8yrs  entered with mother  , shy and bashful , small forehead , unable to stand on his feet well ( can stand only with support ) , slurred speech ,biting of nails and less or no eye contact .

· Detailed case of Mother had been elicited , after 3 months and 1 st follow up , no great changes had been seen hence case had been retaken probing Mothers History.

·  After Retake of Case , over 2nd follow up onwards Head circumference Improved and could balance himself for few seconds without support.

· On later follow ups his Biting of toenails had disappeared and his aggressive nature had been controlled. It was even told by mother that he could initially not meet or be around if any stranger at Home , post treatment he could be around stranger without any discomfort. Speech was yet to develop with less eye contact.

·  After successful treatment of 1.5 yrs this child had improvement in his speech and he could make eye contact . His aggression had come down. He improved in some parts of Maths too.

·  After 3 yrs of continuous treatment evaluated that his balance had greatly improved , he could get up from his seat and balance himself . His head circumference also had improved .
