Every year July 1st is observed as National Doctor’s Day to honor Indian doctors, pay respect to the medical professionals and highlight the significance of doctors in our lives. This day was first celebrated in 1991 to honor Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy, a renowned doctor and West Bengal's second chief minister, whose birthday and death anniversary fall on the same day (July 1).
On this occasion of Doctor's day I felt like writing a small piece for everyone. The day celebrates this beautiful profession while holds in itself so many facets of life. A doctor knowingly and unknowingly touches so many lives each and every day.A doctor apart from being a healer has other roles like a mentor, a motivator, an empathizer, a teacher, a friend, a family man and most of all HUMANE.
This is the only profession in the whole world where individuals lay their paramount trust on the treating doctors and trust them with their lives. I feel that there is hardly any competition to beat that. Doctors are blessed I feel as they have the opportunity to help others each and every day. The satisfaction at the end of a grueling day is just so worth it !!
COVID-19 pandemic was the worse chaos experienced by mankind of today's era. To be able to fight with a disease so fierce and unknown,full of uncertainties and without even once thinking about their own selves and their families was not only short of majestic but was also divine.
I feel that doctors are not necessarily only people with medical degrees but also anyone who wants to heal or help a suffering individual. I am very thankful to the almighty that I have this opportunity to serve other people and that too as a professional I get to do it every day.
