Are you being productive? What does even productivity mean?
We’ve been programmed that doing something is equal to fixing or progressing while doing nothing could mean wasted time and further delays.
Sometimes, however, life has a way of working out on its own. I can tell you with confidence that a lot of my proudest moments in life did not always come from hustling but rather timing.
"Never give up” isn't good advice after all. Sometimes you simply have to quit. Quitting doesn't mean defeat. It means trying something new because the old one obviously did not work out for you. It means a fresh start.
This mindset towards productivity also hinders some people from fully committing to therapy. They expect lavish tools and programs. What about breathwork? We cannot stay still, can we?
It’s the same with meditation. To be effective, you should let go of expectations, do nothing and be in the moment. Embracing the other side of productivity can help with healing tremendously. Healing is a lot of work and many times, this work involves pausing, resting, relaxing, letting go and simply being.
Next time you try too hard and stress yourself in the process, focus on allowing instead of doing more.
Tell me, what did you not do today?
