- Psoriasis is a systemic chronic skin disorder characterized by excessive keratinocyte proliferation , i.e. it is a disease in which the immune system becomes overactive causing skin cells to multiple too quickly.
- CAUSES: Psoriasis is an autoimmune condition that causes inflammation of skin. (Autoimmune disease is a disease that occurs when body’s immune system attacks and destroys healthy body tissue.) Psoriasis can also result in other inflammatory disorders and conditions like psoriatic arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease and coronary artery disease.
