Cancer patients are a special group of people who need to be extra careful then general population. What you and me can do with a smile may not be applicable to them.So before delving into YOGA postures let us know what science have to say about use of YOGA in Cancer patients.
YOGA is an art of healing of body and mind without an extra cost.Neither you need to hit gym or motivate yourself to adhere a harsh regime which your body wants but the mind doesn't. On the contrary to do YOGA you require a mat and a peaceful environment and hence early morning is the best time to do it when noise is less and calm is more.
YOGA as all of us know involves breathing exercises, stretching and meditation. It relaxes one more than a music can do and can reduces stress even in a CANCER SURVIVOR & their CAREGIVERS.
Scientifically proven, through studies and trials,YOGA is known to reduce Cancer Related Fatigue--a known side effect of radiation, chemotherapy, surgery or all in cancer patients.
However certain patients whoa are actively undergoing cancer treatment like intensive chemotherapy or bone marrow transplantation need to be extra careful in this time of pandemic as they run extra chance of catching infection when outdoor.
Certain patients like those having tumor spread to bones or those with abdominal distention or ascites or those who are bedridden should restrict themselves to their ONCOLOGIST advice before trying YOGA.
Barring a few and almost all of those cancer patients who are in follow up and have completed their cancer treatment can take short YOGA sessions under certified trainer and in supervision of their DOCTORS!
Thank You.
