Before diving deep into the world of body language , first we'll see how the concept of body language evolved.
During the time of ancient era, people were basically hunters or gatherer's. There work was to hunt animals and gather seeds and fruits for the living, but sometimes they faced animals and creatures which we know , but the early people were not used to see them, and as a result it created a pattern of 3F's response (freeze, flight, fight).
In todays world , we can practically use the knowledge of body language or the non-verbal language very effectively.
A human body can be recognized as a sign board or notice board where there is so much more than verbal language, i.e; facial expressions , body gestures, physical movements. One more reason I'd like to mention so as to why people should start recognizing the body language and gestures of others is that people are thinking creatures and they can use their brains to recognize what to say and what not to ( in some cases to save themselves from trouble) . But the bodily senses or the gestures always try to tell the truth.
As a Psychlogist , carefully noticing the gestures can tell us whether the client is trying to hide something or is not comfortable in telling something.
But what exactly is NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION ??
Non-verbal communication , often referred to as the non-verbal behaviour or body language, is just an another way or means to deliver information to others , similarly as we do when we talk or the spoken word. The difference lies in the way it is being transferred
1. Through Facial Expressions
2. Gestures
3. Postures
4. Body Adornments (clothing, hairstyle, jewellery...)
and many more....
Non-Verbal communication basically tries to reveal the true intentions, thoughts, emotions and feelings of an individual, the basis of this statement is that most of the time people dont recognize that they are also talking non-verbally in front of others and is often regarded as more honest than Verbals, which are sometimes consciously created.
