A sudden drooping of one side of the face can be alarming. In many cases, this may be Bell’s Palsy — a temporary weakness of the facial nerve, often linked to viral inflammation.

Common symptoms include:

• Facial asymmetry

• Difficulty closing one eye

• Drooling or altered taste

• Ear pain or sound sensitivity

The good news: most patients recover well, especially when treatment is started early — ideally within 72 hours.

Do not ignore sudden facial weakness. While Bell’s Palsy is usually treatable, stroke and other neurological conditions must also be ruled out.

Early evaluation by an ENT specialist can make a significant difference in recovery and eye protection.
