There are two types of vitamins - fat soluble and water soluble of which the vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin. It is found in many foods including vegetable oils, cereals, meat, poultry, eggs and fruits. Foods rich in vitamin E include canola oil, olive oil, margarine, almonds and peanuts. Vitamin E is available from meats, dairy, leafy greens and fortified cereals. The recommended daily amount of vitamin E for adults is 15 milligrams a day. Vitamin E is also available as an oral supplement in capsules or drops. Deficiency of vitamin E can cause nerve pain (neuropathy).
