Hair is an essential part of our appearance and should be cared. Yet, a significant number of people suffer from dull, frizzy lifeless hair. Exposure to environmental pollutants, humidity, genetics, and harsh chemical products all play a role in causing dry and damaged hair, especially in winters. As the winters are approaching one needs to take good care of the hair. Hair fall and dryness of the hair can increase in the winters. Dry hair also tends to absorb moisture from the surrounding air, which results in frizz.
Common winter hair issues and their causes
1. Dryness: .The lack of moisture in the air causes the hair strands to lose moisture, leaving them dry, brittle, and frizzy.
2. Static Electricity: The dry winter air can lead to an accumulation of static electricity in the hair. This may cause tangles, fly aways, and trouble managing the hair.
3. Scalp Dryness: The cold climate can also cause the scalp to become dry and flaky. The scalp may experience dandruff and feel irritated, itchy, and dry.
4.Breakage: Hair may be more prone to breakage in cold and low-humidity environments. Lack of moisture causes the hair strands to become more brittle, causing more breakage, split ends, and general damage.
5. Reduced Hair Growth: Throughout the winter, some people's hair growth may slow down. Numerous factors, including poor blood flow to the scalp and environmental stressors that have an impact on the hair follicles, may contribute to this.
Excessive dryness can be harmful in a number of ways. It can lead to hair loss and brittleness. Hairfall can be due to different causes. Stress, sleep pattern, genetics, growth cycle ,hormonal imbalance, life style changed, vitamin deficiency, etc are some of the reasons for hairfall.
HAIR CYCLE-
1. Anagen Phase: Anagen is also called the growing phase. This is the active growth phase, which can last from 2 to 7 years.
2. Catagen Phase: (Transition phase): Once the anagen phase ends, transitional phase lasts about ten days, during which hair stops the blood flow and detaches from the hair follicle.
3. Telogen Phase( Resting Phase): In this stage, strands remain in their follicles, but it does not fall either. An estimated 10-15% of your hairs are in the Telogen Phase at any moment. This stage lasts for approximately around 2-3 months.
4. Exogen Phase: (Shedding Phase)This is the final stage of the hair cycle, during which individual hair eventually leads to their shedding. Subsequently, the entire process can kick-start once more. Effective treatments for some types of hair loss are available. You might be able to reverse hair loss or at least slow it.
TREATMENT'S:
Treatments for hair loss include medications and surgery. If your hair loss is caused by an underlying disease or certain medication, treatment for that disease will be necessary and your doctor may advise you to stop using it for a few months. Medications are available to treat pattern (hereditary) baldness.
HOME CARE:
DO'S-
1. Reduce the use of heat styling tools to avoid further drying and damage.
2. Hair masks and deep conditioning treatments to deeply hydrate and repair your hair.
3. Maintain a healthy diet.
4. Stress managment
5. Be gentle with wet hair.
6. Use a wide- tooth comb or detangling brush.
7. Anti-Frizz and Static Control: To combat static and frizz caused by dry air, use anti-frizz and anti-static products. Frizz and static electricity can be controlled with leave-in conditioners, serums, and sprays containing silicone or argan oil.
8. Ph-Balanced Products: Look for pH-balanced hair care products that help maintain your hair's and scalp's natural pH balance. pH-balanced formulas can promote scalp health by preventing excessive dryness or oiliness.
DONT'S-
1. Over washing: Avoid over washing your hair in the winter because it can strip away natural oils and cause dryness. Wash your hair every 2-3 days or as needed to maintain a moisture balance.
2. Hot Water Showers: Hot water can dehydrate your hair and scalp even more, causing dryness and frizz. When washing your hair, use lukewarm water to avoid stripping away essential oils.
3. Excessive Heat Styling: Use heat-styling tools such as flat irons, curling irons, and hair dryers sparingly. Excessive heat can cause damage and breakage to your hair. Use heatless styling methods whenever possible, or use low heat settings when necessary.
4. Rough Towel-Drying: Rubbing your hair vigorously with a towel can cause friction and breakage. Instead, use a soft towel or an old T-shirt to gently squeeze out excess water. To avoid unnecessary damage, pat your hair dry.
5. Neglecting Regular Trims: Skipping regular trims can allow split ends to travel up the hair shaft, causing more severe damage. To keep your hair healthy and prevent further breakage, schedule regular haircuts every 8-12 weeks.
6. Ignoring Scalp Care: In the winter, take good care of your scalp. In order to avoid dryness, flakiness, and itchiness, keep it clean and moisturized. Avoid using harsh, drying shampoos that can remove the natural oils from the scalp.
7. Wet Hair While Sleeping: Wet hair while sleeping can cause more breakage and tangling. Before going to bed, make sure your hair is completely dry to prevent damage. If you must sleep with damp hair, braid it or loosely tie it up to reduce friction.
8. Neglecting a Balanced Diet: A healthy diet is very important for maintaining the health of your hair. Avoid excessive consumption of processed and sugary foods, and ensure you're getting a balanced diet with plenty of vitamins, minerals, and protein to support healthy hair growth.

Each patch of hair has one to several hairs (micro-grafts and mini-grafts). This procedure doesn't require hospitalization, but you'll be given a sedation medicine to ease any discomfort. You may need more than one surgery to get the effect you want. Hereditary hair loss will eventually progress despite the surgery.
