Invisible braces or aligners are the RAGE. There is a HUGE amount of digital marketing, influencer marketing and even celebrity marketing happening, trying to get your children hooked onto the concept of invisible braces, but the question we need to ask ( and answer ) is, are they exactly what my child needs or are they gimmicks ?

 
Here are some clear advantages of Aligners - 
- They are super comfortable for people of all ages
- They cause ZERO interruption to your eating and diet, since they are removed during meals
- Aligners are VERY useful from people that engage in job roles that require a HIGH cosmetic appeal or rather, in situations where you are directly facing clients and you feel that the interaction would be hampered if you were wearing braces.
- Aligners WORK ( more on this later :P, coz they don't ALWAYS work )

Here are some LIMITATIONS of Aligners - 
- They don't work on complex cases AS well as braces
- IF you want REAL results, then you'll need REAL aligners from a DOCTOR oriented company and not something gimmicky that you picked up from instagram :) You would never in a million years see a dentist getting her children's treatment done by Tootsi or ay company that spends more than half their budget on marketing.
- REAL aligners such asa Invisalign, Clear Correct by Straumann etc are expensive !
- They need the patient to be patient and consistent with wearing them, so if your child is likely to be irregular, then they are not going to work.

Here are some ADVANTAGES of Braces -
- Your result / perfect smile is pretty much guaranteed !
- Regardless of how complex your case it, we'll be able to fix it, coz the magic and science is in the control of the doctor.
- Compliance and laziness isn't an issue, regular appointments are all you need.
- Newer generations of braces are SUPER smooth and comfortable and get the job done in 12-14 months on average ( many times, much faster too )

Here are some Disadvantages for Braces - 
- Few limitations on what you can eat and how you can eat it ( avoid nuts )
- Require you to meet the dentists once a month for the entire duration of the treatment
- Visible ( less and less if you invest in Damon Ceramic/ Clear braces )

Final Words 
- Aligners are best for MILD cases, ideally in adults
- They cost a lot more than braces but if the cosmetic restriction is REAL, then YES they rock ! BUT
- Aligners need to be processed by a dentist and gimmicky stuff on instagram is likely to waste your time and money, Medical procedures require doctors with their decades of experience, so don't fall prey to scammy digital marketing.
