First and foremost thing to avoid asthma triggers is to identify your triggers. You can easily identify your triggers by noting your asthma symptoms when and where they occur in relation to potential triggers. Few of the common triggers are cold, flu, cigarette smoke, air pollution, cleaning agents like bleach, strong perfumes, cold air, animal fur of pets like cats and dogs, dust mite, cockroaches, mold and certain medications like aspirin. If you find it hard to identify triggers you can discuss it with your doctor who will help you identify them and might run few tests likesome blood tests and skin test to identify your allergens.
1. Wash your Hands frequently
This avoids getting sick from infections like flu. You can also stay away from people who are infected with cold and face mask in crowded places.
2. Cover your mouth and nose in cold
On winter days when air is cold and dry cover your mouth and nose with a scarf
3. Keep your pillows and mattresses clean
To avoid dust mites cover your pillows and mattress with special covers and wash them at least once a week in hot water with detergent and dry them properly in hot air. To avoid pollen stay indoors during the times of year when your asthma symptoms worsens. Keep windows of your house closed to avoid any pollen from getting in. If you have to go out then take a bath and change your clothes when you come back home. This will remove pollens which might have got onto your clothes.
