How do you know if it is due to toothache?

If you are experiencing a headache, you might wonder what caused it. There are actually many reasons why someone could be feeling the onset of pain in their head. Toothache is one cause and it can lead to headaches when it is left untreated. To determine if your headache is due to toothache, ask yourself the following questions: Is there pain in your teeth or gums?  Does your jaw hurt? Is there swelling in your face or neck? Are you drooling more than usual?  and If you answered yes to any of these questions, it could be due to toothache.

How do you know if the headache is a migraine or not?

If your headache is a migraine, you will experience other symptoms such as light sensitivity, vomiting and nausea. You can also get a diagnosis through an MRI or CAT scan. If the headache is not a migraine due to toothache, then that may be your answer. Headaches resulting from toothache are more common in adults then children's. 

It's clear that a toothache is the cause of a headache, but it may not be the only cause. Tooth pain can also lead to facial pain in some cases, which could result in a headache. A possible reason for a headache due to toothache is referred pain.
