Every year, 12th February is observed as the national sexual and reproductive health awareness day. The day aims at raising awareness about the issues concerned with sexual and reproductive health issues.
Reproductive health focuses on public awareness about puberty, reducing the incidence of unintentional pregnancy by promoting the right to contraception and family planning, maternal health, and sexual health. Sexual health topics include several interrelated issues channelized to focus on topics related to safe sex, healthy sexual practices, sexual pleasure and satisfaction, and diseases (sexually transmitted infections and diseases, and reproductive tract infections), sexual abuse, sexual dysfunction, and mental health related to sexual health.
In the society that we live in, topics related to sex or physical intimacy are still considered to be a taboo. Blame it on the persistent hush-hush about sex-related topics or the lack of sex education, you might feel uneasy and vulnerable to hold a dialogue on sex and sexual health on a personal level, with your partner, friends, or physicians. Ignoring your sexual health and other sex-related problems due to embarrassment, or for the fear of being subjected to judgment, criticism, or rejection may cost you your health and relationship.
To help you with your dilemmas, Dr. Sarita Naik through a series of videos addresses sexual dysfunction in women.
