Yes swelling is normal as wound is yet healing...
as it needs more blood supply to recover and regenerate new tissues again.. it's OK.
During surgery more the use of Rotary instruments more the swelling...
So in simple words swelling will rise for first 3 days then it will be der for next 1 to 2 days and then it will gradually reduce over a weeks time...
About pain management taking painkillers may help but only solution is time now...

Sometimes the pain remains there for 3 to 4 days post extraction if the extraction is traumatic. No need to worry keep on taking your medications as prescribed by your dentist.
Can do warm saline rinses three to four times a day.
Do get one iopa x ray done for front molar tooth. Pain might be because of that tooth too.
