Aftr a root canal is done, a 2-3 days gap is ideal for the nxt appointment.in Ur next appointment the tooth size wl be reduced so that a cap can be fixed abv it.after reducing the size the measurements it wl tak around 20-40 min. The measument Wil be taken and sent to the lab..the lab Wil tak 3-5 days for processing Ur cap and one the nxt appointment the cap fixing wl done  and Wil tak not more than 10 min.

Capping can be done immediately. if you wait for long time the tooth may fracture. Because after endodontic treatment the tooth becomes brittle, it looses strength. Go as early as possible and get the crown fixed.
