I recently got myself tested and got to know my Vitamin D, 25-Hydroxy values is 16.91.
I consulted a physician and he injected me arachitol 6L IU injection and told me after 15 days to start taking a vitamin D supplement of 60k IU once a week for 10 consecutive weeks.
I would like to know if after taking a mega dose, do I still need to take pills as well because one is the substitute of the other.
I am doubtful if this is going to increase my level above the safe limit.

You have deficiency in vitamin d.Treatment is either 2 injections 2 months apart or orally every week once for 10-12 weeks. In your case you have received one injection form and to follow with oral form which is alright.
A week or 2 after you complete the 10 weeks treatment , recheck vitamin d level
Calcium supplement daily is helpful
Injections usually help to raise it quite high but yes they can't maintain for long. That's why its needed to take other suppliments too... And no its not exactly substitute. 1 increases level other maintains
