UTI after prostate surgery
Hi doctor,
It's being 1 month after prostate surgery, my father has got fever below 100 and burning sensation in urine.
Is it normal to have UTI even after surgery and what treatment should be given?

Post operative urinary tract infection, lasting for more than a month is not uncommon, though it needs to be properly evaluated initially by urine analysis and culture and sensitivity of the urine.He should be seen by his urologist for a clinical examination and appropriate treatment

1. Urinary tract infection (UTI)
2. Bladder spasms

3. Avoid acidic food.

A low-grade fever (below 100°F) with burning urination at 1 month post-surgery strongly suggests a urinary tract infection and should not be ignored. The important thing now is to identify the specific bacteria causing the infection through a urine culture so that the right antibiotic is prescribed, rather than using a broad-spectrum antibiotic blindly.

Get a urine routine examination and urine culture with sensitivity done immediately. Share the results with the operating urologist or a physician who can prescribe the appropriate antibiotic.
